. Between Two Edges
This portion of Weston Rd. has developed between two regional corridors—the Humber River on the west and the railway on the east. Growing “in-between” has prevented the built form from expanding horizontally, creating a unique high-density enclave quite different from the low-rise residential neighbourhoods on the other sides of the river and the railway.
The two edges have different forms and conditions. While the Humber River provides a softer condition with multiple outdoor spaces nested in the lush landscape, the railway on the east side defines a hard edge with only a few connections to the residential neighbourhood on the east side.
